About Us
The Fur Council of Canada is a national, non-profit association with membership representing people working in every sector of the Canadian fur trade. This includes fur producers (farmers and trappers), auction houses, processors, designers, craftspeople and retail furriers. Incorporated by federal charter in 1964, the Fur Council of Canada coordinates programs that include:
- Encouraging linkages with designers, fashion colleges and other sectors of the fashion industry;
- Promoting technical and design innovation;
- Supporting national and international marketing and promotional initiatives;
- Providing accurate information about the economic, social and ecological contributions of the Canadian fur trade.
The North American Fur & Fashion Exposition in Montreal (NAFFEM) is the largest fashion industry show in Canada, the only high-end fur and outerwear fashion fair of its type in North America, and one of the most important fur marketing events in the world.
